Islamabad, September 05 : Saudi Arabia-based Kashmiri scholar, Abdul Majeed Butt, passed away in Riyadh, today, after a protracted illness. He was 66.
Abdul Majeed Butt had been facing respiratory problems, was admitted to a hospital and remained in coma for two months.
The deceased belonged to an educated family of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and was associated with Jamaat-e-Islami. He had played a leading role in the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement.
The deceased was the brother of Hurriyat-AJK leader, Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt.
Meanwhile, a large number of people rushed to the residence of Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt in Islamabad to condole the sad demise of his brother.
