Being a nation we are passing through a testing time: Syed Ali Geelani

SRINAGAR, (SABAH): Quaid Tehreek-e-Azadi Jammu Kashmir Syed Ali Shah Geelani has said that we all have realization that being a nation we are passing through a testing time.

In a statement issued on Monday, Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that on the one hand India is using new tyrannical tactics and is trying to oust the Kashmiris from their own land, adding that on the other hand the international community is silent on the situation and it looks that India has been given permission to do anything in Kashmir.

Syed Ali Geelani said that being Muslims we should not become disappointed on the current situation, adding that our struggle is based on justness and righteousness. Syed Ali Geelani said that we are not begging anything from anyone and also not want to snatch anything from anyone, adding that we want to secure our snatched rights, which have been acknowledged at the international level and also have been promised with us.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that we have given great sacrifices for securing our rights, adding that we could not ignore and forget this aspect of our struggle. He said that hundreds and thousand of youth, elders and children have rendered blood and thousands of mothers, sisters and daughters faced disrespect in the freedom movement. Syed Ali Geelani said that we are the custodians of all these sacrifices and we will protect them. He said that it is our collective responsibility to look after the widows of the martyrs, orphans, detainees and their families, adding that fulfilling their needs and expressing solidarity with them is our national duty.

Syed Ali Geelani said that ups and downs are part and parcel of every struggle and no struggle ends due to this, adding that we want to clarify that achievement of freedom for the Kashmiri people is the only purpose of our struggle, adding that less than this will not be acceptable for the Kashmiris.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that those who are desirous of peace should not ignore that the freedom movement is not the reason for unrest in the region but it is illegal Indian occupation of Kashmir, adding that until and unless this reason is removed the efforts for brining peace could not become fruitful.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that we are the biggest supporters of improvement in relations between Pakistan and India because the Kashmiri affects the most from the bad relations between the two countries; however it is not acceptable to talk about freezing the Kashmir dispute for restoration of relations between Pakistan and India. He said that it is not possible that on the one hand Kashmiris continue to face atrocities and on the other hand we should hope for peace in the region.

Syed Ali Geelani said that Kashmiri masses like every nation and country enjoyed legal and moral right to think about its interests and protect them, adding that our only purpose is to take our struggle to logical end for securing rights and this will have to be done by Kashmiris jointly. He said that the wars not fought with the weapons but vigor and patience.
