SRINAGAR, Dec 30: Former Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani has rejected the report of Indian newspaper “Times of India” as baseless and said that Indian media at the behest of Indian intelligence agencies is baseless. The foundation is harming the Kashmiris’ movement by publishing news.
Syed Abdullah Gilani, Special Representative of Syed Ali Geelani, former chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference for Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, issued a statement on Wednesday stating that the Times of India had published baseless news on December 15.
It has been claimed that Syed Ali Geelani has elected his spokesperson as acting Vice Chairman All Party Hurriyat Conference Kashmir Branch and Syed Ali Geelani has expressed confidence in Syed Abdullah Gilani as Chairman Hurriyat Conference Azad Kashmir.
The statement said that the news in the Indian newspaper was completely baseless and was published at the behest of Indian intelligence agencies with the aim of creating confusion among Kashmiris. The fact is that Syed Ali Geelani resigned from the chairmanship of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference on June 29 this year and he had issued a detailed statement to the media stating the reason for his resignation. His statement was part of the local, regional and international media and since that day Syed Ali Geelani and his representative Syed Abdullah Gilani have nothing to do with the All Party Hurriyat Conference.
Syed Abdullah Geelani is Syed Ali Geelani’s representative in Pakistan. The statement said that Bhati Media was publishing irresponsible news of its intelligence agencies and violating the basic principles of journalism by publishing such news without any investigation and evidence.
The purpose of the release was to make clear to the general public, especially the Kashmiri people, the fact that Syed Ali Geelani and his representative Syed Abdullah Geelani have nothing to do with the All Parties Hurriyat Conference so that the Indian media does not mislead anyone with such baseless reports.
