Srinagar: Panic gripped several villages of north Kashmir’s Kupwara on Friday after India and Pakistan armies exchanged heavy gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district.
Witnesses said that India and Pakistan troops traded gunfire along the LoC around 1:00 pm today triggering panic in Panzgam, Malikpora, TCP, Hafrada and Ferkiyan areas. Many residents of Panzam village were seen moving towards safer locations while others have confined themselves to safer locations within their homes,
“The shelling is so intense that the people in far off villages were also hearing the sound of explosions,” said Sajjad Ahmad, a resident of Tarathpora, a densely populated village which is very far away from the LoC. The houses were shaken with every sound of the shell,” he said.
