Srinagar- A top commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was among two mujahideen martyred in an encounter with the state forces in Ranbirgarh Panzinara area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Saturday, sources said.
TheIndian occupational forces launched a cordon and search operation in Ranbirgarh Panzinara area in the morning following inputs about the presence of mujahideen there, an Indian police official said.
He said as the occupational forces were conducting the search, mujahideen fired upon them. triggering an encounter
The Indian police said one of the two mujahideen was identified as Ishfaq Rashid, a resident of Sozeith in Srinagar.
Rashid was one of the top LeT commanders active in Kashmir Valley since 2018. He was wanted due to his Armed resistance against Indian occupation.
