Srinagar: Thirty-three persons including 16 Mujahideen martyred and 10 personnel from combined Indian Occupational forces have been killed in the month of August alone in Kashmir Valley.
One person was also martyred on LOC by the Indian Army in Rajouri while unknown gunmen shot dead a BJP worker and subsequently killed a Panch from Khonmou area of Srinagar outskirts.
Three persons including a woman were killed in cross border firing.
As per data made available , over all six civilians were killed in August. These include a BJP worker Abdul Hamid Najar from Ompora Budgam, Khonmou Panch Nisar Bhat alias Kobra and a 42 year old mentally retarded person Azad Ahmed Dar 42 years s/o Muhammad Akbar of Dadoora Kangan village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama. All these men were shot dead by unknown gun men.
Those were killed in cross border firing were Muhammad Arif of Rangwar Kupwara, 65 year old man Sadiq Ahmed from Poonch and Muhammad Yakub Mir of Tanghdar.
At least 16 mujahideen were martyred in different gunfights that raged in Kamrazipora Pulwama, Kreeri Baramulla, Mool Chitragam Shopian, Ganupora Kralgund area of Handwara, Kiloora Shopian and Zadoora Pulwama and Pantha Chowk Srinagar.
Among the 10 combined Occupational forces personnel who were killed in ongoing August include 4 army soldiers, 4 policemen and 2 Para-military troopers.
Some of the top mujahid commanders this month were Azad Lelhari, Nasiruddin Lone, Sajad Hyder and Adil Hafiz.
In the first 8 months of the current year, 161 mujahideen martyred and 61 Indian Occupational forces personnel have been killed. June was the bloody month when combined Indian Occupational forces martyred 50 mujahideen in 30 days.
